The BANGS mission is to 1) raise awareness and funding for nonprofit organizations, and 2) connect individuals to the importance of sustainability and long-term change. The BANGS method is to integrate fundraising for non-profit organizations into a for-profit business model. BANGS partners with non-profit organizations whose projects focus on self-reliability and empowerment through education and cultural understanding, turning away from handout methodology.
Hey everybody! It's Hannah, Founder & President of BANGS.
I was inspired to start BANGS in June 2010 after completion of a year long contract teaching English in China's eastern Jiangsu Province.
Inspiration for the design of BANGS shoes was found in the olive green, army-style shoes worn by thousands of construction and field workers across China. I developed the ideology behind the BANGS brand to connect people to an ideology I feel passionately about.
BANGS helps remind consumers that creating positive change does not have an easy, short-term solution. The BANGS method of supporting real sustainable change is to partner with non-profit organizations that turn away from "charity" and support community programs for dignified development.
As a for-profit organization, BANGS hopes to lift some of the fundraising burden from our amazing partners by offering consumers an avenue to combine retail purchases with monetary donations to the non-profit community.
We are in an era where combining philanthropy and business is not only accepted, but demanded by a socially conscious generation of consumers. I believe, along with many others today, that individuals are capable of affecting widespread positive change.
With BANGS, wherever you stand you stand on issues.
