It’s that time of year again: BA applications.

By: Kate Sanchez, BANGS Ambassador

I recall turning mine in last year, knowing little about BANGS except the shoes were cute and adventure-durable.

Little did I know my purchase did a lot more than just boost my shoe game self-esteem.

Personally, I’ve learned a thing or two about the fashion industry through my experience with United Students Against Sweatshops, USAS, at my university in Austin, Texas. It is a cruel market that demands a constant influx of new ideas, materials, and precious time to create, ship, and sell the clothes.

The hands touching and fabricating the clothes and shoes get kicked to the dust with forced overtime and less than a dollar an hour as wage.

BANGS is a little different.

They pay the workers in their Asia-based factory fair wages higher than the industry average. Not only is your dollar going toward an adventurous fashion statement, but it is also supporting a company that cares about the workers on the ground.

The BANGS factory even encourages their workers to take naps during their 1.5-hour lunch break… THAT’S how to #liveBANGS. Read and watch more about the family-run Vietnamese factory here:

With this in mind, BA’s take on adventures knowing our shoes are one of a kind, hand stitched with love (and good pay), and will last—forreal, they use vulcanized rubber in their soles, which is also used in hiking boots and skate shoes, for ultimate outdoor fun!

BANGS encourages its ambassadors to seek adventure in everything we do, to never stop exploring and learning. Discovering the world around us is what we were put on this earth to do—search, find your passion, make a difference.

Interested? We’d love to have you in our family. Apply here & join us!
