BANGS means help in Mandarin; although, you probably already knew that. What you might not know is that BANGS Shoes was founded on the concept of luck.

Not in the sense that skill, forethought and work didn’t go into the birth of this company, but lucky because Hannah Davis took a calculated chance.

There was an opportunity for greatness and Hannah was prepared.

I found BANGS Shoes by chance. Winter of 2015 I discovered the online yoga community on Instagram. There were several accounts that I followed, but one really stuck out.

So I did what every sane person does when they find an account they liked, I stalked them.

I stalked this particular yogi all the way back to winter of 2014 where she was wearing a snazzy pair of shoes. Lucky for me, she had the name of the shoe company tagged in the caption.

The tag led to a profile for “BANGS Shoes: Your Adventure Helps Others Find Theirs.”

Naturally, I clicked the link to their website and filled out an application to become a BANGS ambassador. I hadn’t even bought the shoes yet and I was already invested in this company. 

I can’t explain the next two weeks with absolute clarity because it all happened so fast. Before I knew it I had gotten an email inviting me to a phone interview with the founder and CEO of this company.

On the phone with the Hannah Davis herself, chatting about yoga and all of a sudden I’m a BANGS Ambassador. Jump ahead to summer of 2016 and I now help manage the BANGS twitter account and I’m writing for BANGS' new blog.

All because of a post on Instagram.

I found BANGS the way Hannah found BANGS. I took a calculated chance. I filled out a form hoping that maybe I can be a widget in a machine that produces positivity and light.

I have an internship with this company that is providing invaluable experience. I am a part of an exponentially growing community with unwavering compassion and ambition. 

Be daring and don’t take luck for granted because luck is the catalyst for the unexpected.
