Let's go birding!

Important reminder: Be respectful!!

Be kind to the birds, other life you may see and the area you are in! Leave no trace & don't trespass.

The fun thing about birds is you can find them anywhere (yes anywhere!!!)

From a pigeon deep in a city, to a white crowned sparrow on a backyard feeder, all the way to a bald eagle in the tips of a gray pine, the bird-sighting possibilities are endless.

Tips to get started:
  • Merlin Bird ID - this free app will listen and tell you what birds it hears! (not sponsored, we just REALLY like this app)
  • If you've got a camera and/or binoculars- bring them!! Don't have the fancy stuff? You'd be surprised at how well a phone camera can zoom in!
  • Look everywhere!! Overhead, the tops of buildings, deep in trees, tall grasses, bushes, telephone poles, river banks, underwater...EVERYWHERE.
  • Use your ears! Often times you will hear a bird before you see it.
  • Stop and be still. Once you become part of the environment, the birds may come to you!

Don't forget to also appreciate the (non-bird) little things! Is a small mammal keeping its eye on you? Is there a beautiful city mural you haven't seen before? An impressive tree? Signs of spring? Is it a stunning day out??

P.S. Don't forget to thank yourself for getting outside and adventuring! Have fun with it!

P.P.S. New bird shoe coming soooooon!!! Stay tuned!

Stay inspired

We curated the perfect collection for adventures all year long.
